Laminate Vs Hardwood Flooring

by Henry

If you are thinking about redoing your floors then chances are you like many others are trying to weigh out the pros and cons of laminate versus hardwood flooring. Is this is the situation you are in then you should definitely take a deep look at the pros and cons of both the laminate and the hardwood flooring.

Laminate looks decent for a while though it is certainly easy to tell that this is not real hardwood flooring. You will also run into the fact that it does not have a long life span. Laminate will start to peel off after a short time. You will then either need to put more paste down to make the laminate stick again or you will need to buy more laminate.

Hardwood floors look much better than laminate does. They are more expensive but they also have a longer life span if you take good care of them. They are elegant looking and are made to fit any style whether you like contemporary or traditional styles. They come in many different colors. They are not very hard to install and many times you can get them installed by someone else for a good price.  These floors come in different styles as well. They go great in almost any room. You will however need to keep in mind that for places like the bathroom and kitchen you will want to get hardwood flooring that is meant for high moisture areas.

So if you are looking to decide on laminate or hardwood flooring then hardwood flooring wins hands down. It might be more expensive for the short term but being that it has a longer life span and is more durable for the long haul it is much cheaper on your wallet. It will look nicer than the laminate will as well.

You can get different types of hardwood flooring. There is even Canadian hardwood flooring that is supposed to be even more durable, due to the extreme weather variances in Canada, than the United States hardwood flooring.  You can even get used hardwood flooring at a great price or going with unfinished hardwood flooring and do the finishing on your own to save yourself on cost.  These are not the only ways to save money on your hardwood flooring but if you are working on a budget then these are ways that you might certainly want to look at when thinking of getting what you need on a budget.

So in the laminate versus hardwood flooring scenario the hardwood floor is the only option. The only thing you need to decide next is which type of hardwood flooring you are looking to get. You may also want to make sure that you shop around trying to get the best price. You may find many times that if you order online you can get better deals because of the fact that there is more competition.  You will want to be sure to keep all of this in mind when choosing your flooring and where you would like to get your flooring from.
